The vmClient - Just a handy tool or a cool lightweight VDI client?

Get the stadaard version free Recently I’ve added a few new features to the vmClient which enables you to customize the visibility of menus. Because all those new settings could only be changed be editing the registry, I’ve decided to add a configuration dialog. When the vmClient is running, there’s a notification icon visible near your Windows clock in the right lower corner. You have to double click the icon in order to change te vmClient configuration settings. Within the config dialog, there’s an option to enable or disable auto logon and the preferred virtual machine setting. There’s also a tab for configuring your favourites and show or hide individual menu items. The cool feature in this release is... hide all menus, use auto logon and configure a preselected VM and voila there’s you lightweight VDI client.

Hi Eric, cool application. Behind some of our VMs I find the text (trial version) and these VMs can't be contacted. How's that? Do you plan to sell this program or is this just leftover from somewhere? Thanks Christian

Hi Cristian, I’m glad you like the vmCleint, when you see the text trial behind a virtual machine name it means that you’re hosting more than 50 virtual machines. The standard edition of the vmClient is free for personal use but the enterprise edition is available for € 25,00 per seat, the link to the purchase page is available within met vmClient under Help/Get Enterprise. After buying the vmClient, you’ll receive a valid invoice and a registration key which can be entered at Help/Registration. Grüße, Eric Sloof

Eric - I LOVE this application. Good work! The only thing that I would like to see changed/added is the ability to sort the VM list alphabetically. Do you know of any way to make this happen?

Hello, Itwould be cool that you release it as Free ("as Freedom") software and get contributions from other developers :-). By other side, How much dificult could be release a Linux version? Is it developed using .Net? This is a great application. It's a great work. Regards,

I was thinking along the same lines... It would be cool to get this working inside a Linux WINE environment and make it a LiveCD. Or similarly, a Windows PE build using BartPE or Sanbarrow's MOA if it couldn't be done in WINE. It would be interesting to set this up as a poor man's diskless/low power VMWare View-like solution.
