Robert Dell'Immagine, Director of VMware Communities about the CSHWSW:
The Community-Supported Hardware / Software listing (CSHWSW) is the list of configurations that the community has reported to work with VMware Infrastructure. This community-contributed list complements VMware's Hardware Compatibility List (HCL), which is VMware's official listing of supported configurations. Because VMware is not able to test and certify every combination of hardware and software, this listing exists so that community members (including users of hardware / software configurations as well as vendors of the hardware and software) can report configurations they have found to work. VMware makes no claims about the accuracy of the CSHWSW, and no support commitment is implied.
