Typical data centers have a diverse ecosystem of applications running on a wide range of web servers, application servers, and database platforms, coexisting with mainframe based applications. Virtualized applications, with virtual machines that are constantly starting, stopping, and reverting to snapshots, adds to the complexity of datacenter operations. This eLearning course presents an overview and high-level architecture of VMware vRealize Hyperic , describes the installation process, and demonstrates how VMware vRealize Hyperic can be used to effectively monitor and manage resources.

This hands-on training course explores the use of VMware vCenter Orchestrator 5.5 and VMware vCloud Automation Center 6.1 for the automation of VMware cloud infrastructure and IT processes.

The course focuses on extensibility and advanced administration through the use of vCenter Orchestrator workflows in vCloud Automation Center. Students will gain practical experience through the completion of hands-on labs.

• Describe the features, benefits, components, and integration of vCenter Orchestrator and vCloud Automation Center and the role of vCenter Orchestrator workflows and content elements in automation
• Use the vCenter Orchestrator client to access and navigate the vCenter Orchestrator platform and to import and run library vCenter Orchestrator workflows
• Design, develop, and run custom reusable vCenter Orchestrator workflows
• Use VMware APIs in vCenter Orchestrator workflow scripts
• Integrate vCloud Automation Center with vCenter Orchestrator instances to extend infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) machine lifecycle processes and enhance and deliver custom IT services
• Use the Advanced Service Designer in vCloud Automation Center to integrate vCenter Orchestrator workflows with external systems and build automation solutions
• Export, package, and apply version control to vCloud Orchestrator workflows

The course consists of five modules:

1. Introduction to View discusses the View architecture and key benefits and features of the View solution
2. Installing and Configuring View Components describes the main steps for deploying View, how to install View Composer and how to install and configure View Manager, how to install and configure a View Security Server and a View Transfer Server, and provides an overview of configuring View Persona Management.
3. View Desktops explains the steps for configuring virtual machines as desktops, the tasks for preparing virtual desktops before installing View Agent, how to install View Agent, the steps to prepare virtual machines for a linked-clone deployment, and how to deploy a linked-clone automated desktop pool using the Add Pool wizard in View Administrator.
4. Horizon Client Options describes how to install and configure Horizon Client, how to configure View for use on Thin Clients, and how to set up and configure virtual printing.
5. Working with View Administrator covers how to how to log in and navigate the View Administrator interface, how to manage users and groups, how to use the Add Pool wizard to create automated pools, how to use role-based administration, the steps to set up RDS hosts, and how to create application pools.
