VMware Certified Advanced Professional

The names are out:

• VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Enterprise Admin
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Design

Fellow VCI and virtualization friend Scott Vessey has attended the latest VCP Brown Bag webinar where VMware’s Jon Hall has announced the new advanced certification titles. Scott is running a weblog at VMware Training and Certification where you can find the latest vCAP info.

Update: If you want to listen to the full audio transcript, Cody Bunch over at Professionalvmware has uploaded the video. Here's the link.

Please keep in mind that VMware Education Services hasn’t officially released the new titles yet. They will be making an announcement soon regarding the new certification plans, and of course provide more detail around the program and its implications.

Question for VMware: What about the people who already passed the enterprise administrator exam and the design exam, are we left out in the cold? Some of us even participated in the beta’s and in fact helped with developing the current version....... What should we call ourselves, a vCAP3 Enterprise Admin and Design?

Eric, I totaly agree on your question. Why exclude the people that benchmarked the program and organisation in the first place? I see no valid reason to exclude those. They did show they have the knowledge on these subjects, so why not recognise them? All the hassle with waiting ages for scores, labs restarting several times, very strange and bizar questions now and then ... They should maybe get the title VCUP3 (VMware Certified Uber Professional) I VMware is not willing to come up with a solution, I think we should come up with a VCCAP3, VMware Community Certified Advanced Professional, a self proclaimed certification from within the community to recognise all VMware Community members that passed the VI3 Enterprise and Design Exam, and helped VMware to design and work out the design and certification track in the first place ...

Hi Duco, I've replied to your comment on my blog. I passed the Ent Admin 3 exam about a year ago, but will now switch my attention to the VCAP4 and VCDX4 certifications. VMware don't plan on "backdating" the VCAP to the VI3 exams, but if you do complete the VCDX3 you will also have the "upgrade" option to VCDX4.

Eric, Thanks for the post! Here is the follow-up video: http://professionalvmware.com/2010/04/vcp-brown-bag-6-jon-hall-follow-up/ Note, the video suffered, but it's the audio you're after. -Cody http://professionalvmware.com

Oh well.....im not surprised that the people actually sat through that amateurish beta-fase gets screwed over again. This has just, again, cemented my descission on never ever participating on a VMware Certification Beta Program ever again.
