New ESX WhiteBox Asus V3-P5G45

My prior WhiteBox suddenly didn’t start-up anymore; the guys over at Alternate did some tests and concluded; the motherboard was broken. They didn’t give me a replacement, but will send the barebone to Asus. I should expect it to return in six weeks! Yes, I definitely made some noise over there and finally got discount on the new model, the Asus V3-P5G45. I also swapped the DVD-DMA for a DVD-SATA, and placed all the other parts into the new box. I pressed the power button with crossed fingers, and the Asus V3-P5G45 works like a charm. I only had to answer some relocation questions when I tried to start the VM’s. So here’s my new shopping list:

Bare bone Asus V3-P5G45
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz
Memory GeiL 8 GB DDR2-667 Kit
Storage Samsung HD501LJ 500GB Internal SATA 16MB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Network Intel® PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter
DVD-ROM Samsung SA-D163

Are they available in sufficient numbers at Alternate ? Do you know the price ? (not with your discount of course).

Hi Eric, The V3-P5G45 isn't available in the US. I have made a US version of this and wrote it up at the vmware communities site, thread 200338. Thanks for the help Eric, tom

Did you use the internal SATA controller (intel ICH10R) as the default storage adapter of the asus v3-p5g45 ?

Hi Eric, Hmm, I bought this V3-P5G45, And yes it works!! only 64bit OS I do not get employed )-: have you or others that read this one idea? bios i can't find Virtualization Technology option. Help!

CPU Q8200 doesn't support VT

So there is no possibility to run 64bit OS with these V3-P5G45 ? But is still a nice toy!

If you're using a VT CPU, a 64 bits OS can can used on this white-box. Q8200 doesn't support VT, Q9600 does.

Could you inform me about the *Asus mobo model / reference* for buying it as a sigle part and no as a complete barebone? The rest of accesories (Psu, barebox...) are not needed for me... Thanks a lot.
