VMware Recertification Policy
To ensure that all VCP holders maintain their proficiency and stay up to date on the technology, VMware is instituting a recertification policy. Recertification enhances your credibility and demonstrates a commitment to your career, your employer, and your customers.
Key Dates
After March 10, 2014 all new VCP certifications must be recertified within two years of the date earned. Anyone holding a VCP certification awarded prior to March 10, 2013 has until March 10, 2015 to recertify. To recertify, you must pass any VCP or higher-level exam within two years of earning your most recent VCP certification. In other words, you can:
- Take the current exam for your existing VCP certification solution track. For example, if you are a VCP3, you could take the current VCP5-Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV) exam.
- Earn a new VCP certification in a different solution track. For example, if you are a VCP-Cloud, you could recertify by earning a VCP-Desktop (VCP5-DT) certification.
- Advance to the next level by earning a VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) certification.
FAQ
- Will I be told when my certification is going to expire?
Your transcript will show the dates your certification is valid. You will be notified that your certification is due to expire via the email associated with your MyLearn account. - What happens if I donβt recertify by the required date?
Failure to recertify by the required date will result in revocation of your certification.
If you would like to re-earn a certification for which you have been decertified, you must satisfy the same prerequisites as any candidate attempting to earn that certification for the first time.

VMware Virtual SAN Design and Sizing Guide
VMware Virtual SAN is a new hypervisor-converged, software-defined storage platform that is fully integrated
with VMware vSphere. Virtual SAN aggregates locally attached disks of hosts that are members of a vSphere
cluster, to create a distributed shared storage solution.
Virtual SAN enables the rapid provisioning of storage within VMware vCenter as part of virtual machine creation and deployment operations. Virtual SAN is a hybrid disk system that leverages both flash-based devices, to provide optimal performance, and magnetic disks, to provide capacity and persistent data storage.
This delivers enterprise performance and a resilient storage platform. The distributed datastore of Virtual SAN is an object-store file system that leverages the vSphere Storage Policy Based Management (SPBM) framework to deliver application-centric storage services and capabilities that are centrally managed through vSphere virtual machine storage policies. This document focuses on the definitions, sizing guidelines, and characteristics of the Virtual SAN
