I made a little video impression of the second day at the VMworld Europe 2009 in Cannes. It’s a ten minute video with a part of the keynote, the labs and some other things.
Dennis Zimmer founded icomasoft ag on July 18, 2008 and was appointed Chief Technology Officer and Director of the Board. In this function, Dennis Zimmer assumes responsibility for icomasoft® ’s technology strategy, R&D and software architecture. Prior to joining icomasoft ag, he held the position of a Virtualization Specialist and Systems Engineer EMEA Central with the storage vendor Pillar Data System. Earlier stages of his career include the position as Senior Consultant with Mightycare Solutions, a leading consulting company for virtualization in the German market. He designed, implemented and supported some of the largest VMware infrastructures in Europe.
I was invited by Scott Herold to join the Virtualization PowerShell community night. Scott has been working with Carter Shanklin on planning such a night in Cannes during VMworld Europe 2009. It was an open discussion on Virtualization and PowerShell and how we can continue to drive and keep this combination of technologies at the forefront of virtualization management.
Scott also told more about today’s launch of the VESI EcoShell which is community intended to be organized around a new freeware application called the Virtualization EcoShell. The Virtualization EcoShell will enable any level of virtualization administrator to take advantage of PowerShell capabilities provided by Microsoft and virtualization vendors through a customizable, consolidated graphical interface. Virtualization experts will be able to further make use of the flexibility provided by a powerful scripting engine and Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to customize administrative tasks specific to their organization’s needs.
I attended Carter Shanklin’s “TA01 - Managing VMware With PowerShell” session. There wasn’t enough room to get all the people in, so his next sessions will be in a bigger hall. I recorded the complete session, but it’s 900 MB of data which is a tremendous job to process. The next video shows you the first ten minutes, the remainder will be available later this week.
I made a little video impression of the first day at the VMworld Europe 2009 in Cannes. It’s a ten minute video with a part of the keynote, the labs and a short interview with Mike Laverick at VMware community lounge.
The annual Dutch VMUG meeting was held at the Café Le Crillon, situated near the Palais des Festivals. This informal meeting started at Monday 21:00. Paul Davey and Peter Grant, two members of the Xtravirt team were also present.
I would like to share my days experiences but anyone who attends the VCI (VMware Certified Instructor) day is under strict NDA (Non Disclosure). This means that I can’t say anything about lots of demo sessions, demonstrating all the new features in the next generation of VI. Besides that there was an open discussion to talk about certification paths, course roadmap, and all things VCI and VATC related, including the MyLearn, evaluation. I made some pictures and collected a video footage.
As a special Veeam VIP, I was cordially invited to the Veeam partner & customer appreciation party. I met up with the Veeam executive team on board the yacht "Free Life" in the Cannes harbour for a high-energy party with food, drinks, music & fun.
