The VCAP-CID certification is designed for architects who can devise a conceptual framework based on business requirements, organize its elements into distinct components, and design a cloud infrastructure that meets those requirements. It also verifies that you can define goals for the architecture, analyze elements of the framework, and make design decisions that ensure the proper physical and virtual components exist in the design.

New Training Course - VMware vSphere: Fast Track [V5.1]

This intensive, extended-hours training course focuses on installing, configuring, and managing VMware vSphere 5.1. This course combines the content of the VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage course with advanced tasks and skills for configuring a highly available and scalable virtual infrastructure. The course is based on VMware ESXi 5.1 and VMware vCenter Server 5.1. Completion of this course satisfies the prerequisite for taking the VMware Certified Professional 5 exam.

Students who complete this course may enroll in any of several more advanced vSphere courses. This training course is targeted at experienced system administrators and system integrators willing to work hard to achieve superior vSphere skills with minimal time away from the office.The objectives are:

New Training Course - VMware vSphere: Skills for Operators [V5.1]

VMware is about to release a new training course. The vSphere Skills for Operators is a two-day technical classroom training course designed to help the operators and administrators to create and manage virtual machines. This two-day lecture and lab course will help students gain the skills required to work effectively with VMware virtual machines. This course is based on VMware vSphere ESXi 5.1 and VMware vCenter Server 5.1. After completing this course, students may enroll for other advanced vSphere courses.

The overall objective of this course is to provide students a strong understanding of VMware virtual machine features in vSphere 5.1. By the end of this course, the students should be able to do the following:

Describe virtualization, virtual machines, and vSphere components.
Describe the concepts of server, network, and storage virtualization.
Deploy, configure, and manage, and virtual machines.
Use vCenter Server to monitor virtual machine resource usage.
Use VMware vSphere® vMotion® and VMware vSphere® Storage vMotion® to migrate virtual machines.
Secure virtual machines.
Troubleshoot problems with virtual machine configuration.

Free e-learning course - vCenter Operations Manager for View Fundamentals

The vCenter Operations Manager for View Fundamentals course covers the key features and benefits of vCenter Operations Manager for View, how to install and configure the product, and how to work with the vCenter Operations Manager for View dashboards.

The course has three modules:

Module 1

Introduction – This module discusses the vCenter Operations Manager for View architecture, business challenges, problems vCenter Operations Manager for View solves, and key features of vCenter Operations Manager for View. In addition, you will learn about the vCenter Operations Manager for View user interface and dashboards, how vCenter Operations Manager for View is packaged and licensed, and about how vCenter Operations Manager for View collects data and metrics.

Module 2

Installing and Configuring vCenter Operations Manager for View – This module covers the vCenter Operations Manager for View design considerations, installation process, and configuration tasks.

Module 3

Working with the vCenter Operations Manager for View Dashboards –This module describes the function of each of the dashboards and how to use the dashboards to troubleshoot system issues.

New Training Course - VMware vCloud Director: Install, Configure, Manage [V5.1]

This 3 days course demonstrates to technical personnel how to deploy VMware vCloud Director 5.1 for a small private cloud environment and manage the ongoing operation of the deployment. The course focuses on the private cloud in an engineering or quality assurance solution. The course covers all of the fundamentals needed to install, configure, and manage any small private cloud with vCloud Director. This course is the prerequisite for other courses that cover more advanced vCloud Director configurations in enterprise deployments.

In this course you will learn how to:

Deploy vCloud Director.
Manage vCloud Director to satisfy small private cloud business needs.
Configure VMware vSphere® storage to enable multiple tiers in provider virtual datacenters.
Create and manage vCloud Director organizations and vApps to satisfy business needs.
Create and manage vCloud Director catalogs.
Configure networking for organizations and VMware vSphere® vApp(s).
Interface vCloud Director to Microsoft Active Directory servers.
Understand the interactions between VMware vSphere Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) clusters and vCloud Director.

Free e-learning course - vSphere Data Protection and Recovery Fundamentals [V5.1]

The vSphere Data Protection and Recovery course provides information about vSphere Storage APIs and the Data Recovery backup and recovery solution for virtual machines and describes the technologies used by Data Recovery. The course consists of the following self-paced modules:

VMware Data Recovery Overview: This module provides information about vSphere Storage APIs and the Data Recovery backup and recovery solution for virtual machines. In addition, the module explains the components of the Data Recovery tool and their installation and configuration.
Working with VMware Data Recovery: This module describes the technologies used by Data Recovery. In addition, the module explains the steps to create backup and restore jobs, as well as the requirements and guidelines for using Data Recovery.
